They say that reading a chapter of Proverbs Each day for 2 years will make you very, very successful. I think that the term “success” really means, that better outcomes in life can be made, when we today make wiser decisions based on the goodness of our hearts. When I look back on my own life, I have foolishly followed my heart’s desire, but I did not use wisdom behind my actions, and it resulted in a mess for me, and sometimes even worse- for others. Since starting proverbs, I find it comically infuriating that the next days lessons were lessons I needed to read the day before! Like when I’m a hot head trying to prove my point I should have read earlier ( not to bother trying to talk sense to a fool who will mock your words prv 23), or about to tell a juicy story, or even if I roll my eyes at the thought of having to make another call to get to my sales target. Non the less. In the past 23 days I have been able to learn to see the beauty of obedience and knowledge in myself and my life. It has taught me to slow down, take counsel, stay in the present, but be wise!
GOOD OL’ CRITICAL THINKING!
Proverbs so far, for me, has taught me how to expand my mind and see the whole picture, and not just what is beyond my nose. It has also revealed the difference on what my heart wants and what my body wants. So much so, that sometimes, when I pray, the answers in my heart leap out, instead of the words I am trying to use to ask what I think I want. The bottom line: God knows what you want, because he knows your heart. That is how he knows what is best for us. When we open our heart, and let it be softened, and turned, life will transform! Our bad habits will be known to us, and stopped because when our hearts turn, we turn. There is a path for redemption. We will always sin and fall, but as long as our hearts are in the right place, and we obey the Father – then as we grow more obedient, we will have fuller more abundant lives. This brings HONOR to our own parents and to God. AS we know, God gave us the Law, BUT we are human – so he gave us his son, our savior. Then, He anointed us with the Holy Spirit (john 14:16) and that Gives us the power to take counsel! Tell me this stuff isn’t amazing!
